Te Reo Maori-Kei te haere...ki hea?

Tautoro School

6.12.17
Tautoro School.
I love Tautoro School because we learn sports with Matua Matt. We learn the skills to play touch, rugby, rippa rugby soccer and hockey.
And we learn dance with Whaea Dorothy.
I love Room 3 because we achieve our goals. We use kaha, tumaia and ako to achieve our learning goals.
We plant our seeds and we learn about how to look after our plants and to grow plants to feed our whanau. Whaea Hera helps us with our  garden.
In our class we use the hoe of aroha, kaitiakitanga and whanaungatanga. We have good manners, good listening, kindness,I like being a role model.

We read our books to Whaea Hilary, we do our spelling test with Whaea Janet. We even read books to  Mrs Graham.

Seed to feed

1.12.17
Seed to feed.

Me and my classroom have grown plants to sell at our school Market Day.

These are the plants we have grown - Tomato, sunflower, sweet corn, carrot, bok choy, silverbeet, pumpkin, squash, beetroot and sweet pea plants.
We had to germinate the seeds and take care of them so they would grow and grow.  It was easy to look after them.  Anyone can do it.
I am so excited.   We will be giving our families healthy vegetable plants to grow so they can feed their whanau.

Here is a picture to look at. You can see all our plants we put into our classroom for our market day.  I think we are going to get $400 profit.

Persuasive Writing-Kapahaka is important to learn.

WALT  use the correct structure for Persuasive Writing.
20/09/17
Kapahaka is important to learn.

I think that kapahaka is important to learn.
First I think kapahaka is important because it’s good for  fitness. You can get fit when you do the actions and move around.

Secondly I think kapahaka is important because it helps us to learn Te Reo Maori when we sing the words in Te Reo Maori.

Another reason why I think kapahaka is important is because we learn to keep the beat  when we  do the actions and waewae takahia.

Lastly I think kapahaka is important because we learn lots of different songs and actions.

So that’s why I think kapahaka is important.

Tautoro School Cross Country
First Whaea Rosina said, “Ready, set, go!”
I raced like a deer and I raced fast as I could I run. It was Wednesday morning. Tautoro school students were at Mrs Paraha’s farm for the Tautoro School Cross Country race.
I ran with the 7 year old boys and girls and the 8 year old boys and girls. We had to run 2 laps around Mrs Paraha’s  farm. When I was racing down the hill fast as I could my mum said, “Go Ariaana!”

When I was on my second lap my legs felt like  wobbly jelly. My heart was pumping so fast. My lungs felt like they were going to explode. But I didn’t give up. I ran and ran and ran as fast as a car. I kept going till I got to the finish line. Then I found out that I came 4th in the race. I felt very tired and sore but I was proud to finish my race. That was awesome.

Recount Writing-At my Aunty's Wedding

I am learning to write a recount about the best moment of my holiday.
My aunty’s wedding
On Saturday me and my family went to my aunt’s wedding in Auckland.
My aunty was getting married in a big hallroom. When we walked into the big room it was crowded with beautiful flowers.
It looked so pretty. I was excited.
We were waiting for my aunty to walk into the room to get married.
When she came I could see her beautiful wedding clothes. She had a lovely white dress. I thought she looked like a fairy.
My aunty was walking with her Mum.
Everyone was crying. My uncle put a ring on my aunty’s hand. Everyone shouted, “Yay!” and they were clapping. We were all feeling happy for my aunty and uncle.

It was a pretty and fantastic wedding.

On Sunday afternoon I went with my family to kapa haka to watch the kapa haka at Northland College. I was so
excited. I said, “Mum this is fun.”
First my mum went to my aunt's house. I said to mum, “Can I stay.” She said, “Yes.” Next after the kapa haka we walked to town and we did a song for the people. They were giving us money. We went to get frozen coke. It was yum. After that we went back to Northland College. My mum was going up town and got us some lollies. When my mum came back we went to my aunt’s house and played with my cousin’s toys. Then my aunty got us a kai for tea. I felt happy.
